Alexander Kruize
My name is Alexander Kruize. I am 20 years old and was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. I lived in South Africa for 15 years and then moved to The Netherlands with my parents and two brothers. The last few years in the Netherlands were somewhat a challenge for me, huge culture change and way of life was different to that of South Africa.
I have been active and have enjoyed sports my whole life. I have participated in quite a wide range of sports; during a standard school year in South Africa I took part in 10 different sports. My main sports were Swimming, Rugby and Cricket. These were the sports I excelled at. I swam in the national competitions and either ranked first, second or third place. In Rugby and Cricket I played for both Midlands teams. Once we moved to The Netherlands, taking part in multiple sports was not possible. So I decided to pursuit swimming and specialise in that. I started out as a normal swimmer, and ended up swimming at the ‘NK landelijk’ competitions. After that I was asked to join the European competitions, but this was all a bit too much. My school career was of the upmost importance and perusing my swimming career would mean that I would not be able to attend classes at all times.
I am currently studying at ISMB (International Sport Management & Business), I am really enjoying it. I am hoping to one day get my diploma and full fill my dreams by starting a sport foundation in a third world country, helping both children and adults to keep off the streets.
Life has somehow fallen back into place for me since everything is going as planned and I have gotten used to living in The Netherlands.
I hope that this stays this way and that I finish this course successfully and that I'll be able to carry on in life with my girlfriend and family.
